Hurumanu - Balloon chemistry

Hurumanu - Balloon chemistry

Aim: To see which chemical
mix creates the most gas to blow up the balloon.

Hypothesis: From the start I had no clue what was going to happen because i don't really have experience with chemical.

Materials:

  1. 1 spoon of sugar
  2.  2 spoons of yest
  3.  balloon x3
  4.  funnel
  5.  hot water
  6.  3 spoons of salt
  7. 3 spoons of baking soda
  8. half a cup of vinegar
  9. half a cup of soda

Steps:
  1. Get your bottle and put all your ingredients in using a funnel
  2. poor hot water in.
  3. Then quickly put your balloon on the lip of the bottle.
  4. now wait for the magic to happen
My images:

Findings: I found out today that baking soda and vinegar blew the balloon up bigger and faster.

Balloon 1
( 3 tsp baking soda, ½ cup vinegar)
Balloon 2
( 3 tsp salt, ½ cup soda)
Balloon 3
( 2 tsp yeast, 1 tsp sugar )
Balloon Size (cm)
12 cm9 cm10 cm
Bubbles
Lots of bubbles
Not much bubbles

Conclusion:
When the yeast and sugar were mixed together it was going very slow and from there I knew it wasn't going to go very far. In the end it blew up 10 cm I thought it was going to at lest get over 20.

Next was the salt soda at first It was going like medium speed I thought it would be the biggest. But after about 3 seconds it just stooped. It manged to retch 9 cm.

Last it was the baking soda and vinegar, it started off fast there I knew it was going to be the biggest after about 10 to 15 seconds it stooped. It got 12 cm
